Getting Started at Asking Matters

Start by watching our Welcome video, then follow the steps below to continue on your path to more effective asking!

Step 1: Find Your Asking Style

This is where you start learning. We believe you can use your personality to help you be more comfortable and confident when you ask for donations.

If you don’t already know your Asking Style, or you’ve never taken it with the email address associated with your member account, take our three-minute assessment.

Step 2: Start Exploring Content

Asking Course

Your step-by-step guide to getting more gifts. Lessons will be sent weekly via email, but you can view all of the content in your module at any time on the site.

Step 3: Build Your Personal Resource Library

Your library is the best way to keep track of the videos, documents, and webinars you’ve viewed and favorited. Think of your favorites as your list of the most helpful topics!

Here’s how your library works:

Getting to your library

When you are logged in, head to the top of the website and click the button on the far right that says “my library.” You can also follow the link here.

Using your library

Once in your library, you will see a number of tabs in the grey bar. This is how your library is organized.

There are tabs for your viewed video trainings, webinars, and documents. When you view any resource it will automatically be added to the appropriate section of your personal library.

To remove any of the resources from your library, hover over it and click the trash can icon in the lower right corner.

Adding and removing favorites

In your library you will also see a favorites section, where you can easily add resources you’d like to save.

To favorite a resource, go to its page and click the blue button labeled “add to favorites.”

To remove an item from your favorites, hover over it and click the trash can icon in the lower right corner. You can always add resources back to your favorites in the future.

The Member Homepage

The Member Homepage is where you’ll find all the training and resources available as an Asking Matters member. Access any type of material, including Brian’s Office Hours and the 5-Step Asking Guide.

The Member Homepage can be found by clicking the “fundraising training” menu at the top of the website on the far right.

You can also visit it by clicking here. Remember to save this page in your bookmarks!

Updating your account

There are two places to easily access your account settings.

The first is by going to your resource library and clicking the rightmost tab in the grey bar. Alternatively, you can click “my account” at the top of the website which is next to the “my library” button.

From here you can manage your username and password, and update your payment information as needed. The bottom of the account center shows your invoices and payment history, as well as the membership plan you are subscribed to.
